Good choice on the captain and alts.

I agree with Gionta wearing the "C". I don't have beef with the other choices but it is telling that all 3 captains are free agent acquisitions. I think 2 years from now we will have true Sabres draft picks as captains.

Its indicative of the situation. Its partially the stain of old management(I.E. see the Craig Rivet situation) and also the fact that we rebuilt. You know full well Pommer would have had the "C" still. If not possibly others.

This has been the state of the Sabres since Craig Rivet was made captain immediately upon being acquired. The only part of the former corps that ever served as captain was Vanek - who was immediately traded - and Pomminville, who was the least dynamic leader anybody ever met.

The possible drafties we have for that role still don't have puby hair yet. give it a year or 3.

He would be at the top of my list, and as I mentioned only one would have been fine. Disappointing enough to have yet another person come in from outside and be Captain, but then a sweep of all letters to people who have a grand total of 44 games in Blue and Gold is lame.

Yes and no. Technically, Gorges was a trade. And while Moulson came to us this season via free agency, he was here for a good portion of last season and chose to come back. I think that says something to the rest of the guys.

I know Moulson had an A at times with us last season. Gionta was the captain for Montreal prior to signing here. Not sure about Gorges though.

I think Gorges was an Alt . if they all had letters on better teams it does make some sense that they have them on this team until we grow one.

Would've liked to have seen one homegrown player with an 'A' but from the looks of it they chose players that for sure will be here for at least the next 2 years.... Glass half full: It should be nice to see stable and consistent leadership for these young prospects without having to shuffle after every deadline.

Would you guys be interested in picking Jakub Kindl up off waivers?
